OREANDA-NEWS. October 07, 2010. JSC FGC UES Branch – Backbone electric grids (MES) of Center – started extending open switchgear 750 kV at substation 750 kV Belozerskaya (Vologda region). Works are conducted within the construction project of the 4th generating unit of Kalininskaya NPP. It will result in significant enhancement of power supply reliability to the customers on Moscow region, to industrial entities of Cherepovets district of Vologda region including JSC Severstal, it will become possible to connect new customers to the system. Investments of the Federal Grid Company to extending of the switchgear will amount to RUR 2.89 bln.

Within the works at outdoor switchgear 750 kV of substation Belozerskaya it is planned to assemble circuit breakers 500 kV and 750 kV, disconnecting links 500 kV and 750 kV and surge suppressors 750 kV. Also three autotransformers 750/500 kV will be installed at the substation with reserve phase capacity 417 MVA each. Currently work is in progress to clear and plan construction site, inhabited area for builders was constructed, and temporary power supply was organized. Extension of the substation is planned to be completed in 2011.

Prior to this construction of outdoor switchgear 220 kV and extension of switchgear 500 kV were started. By 2011 it will result in five additional bays 220 kV and 500 kV and a new transformer bank with capacity of 501 MVA being installed.

To provide for power output of the 4th generating unit of Kalininskaya NPP currently under construction, JSC FGC UES shall put into operation 560 km of power transmission lines and 6,758 MVA of transformer capacity before 2012. This year it started construction of power transmission line 500 kV Gribovo – Dorokhovo (Moscow region) with the length of 75 km, and power transmission line 750 kV Kalininskaya NPP – Gribovo (Tver region, Moscow region) with the length of 275 km. in the nearest future it is planned to start construction of substation 500 kV Dorokhovo with capacity of 1,502 MVA and extension of substation Gribovo with its transfer to voltage level of 750 kV. In the result of reconstruction the installed transformer capacity of the substation will amount to 3,504 MVA.

Substation 750 kV Belozerskaya with the installed capacity of 1,251 MVA was constructed in 2004. It is the largest power supply center of Vologda region. Reliability of power supply to customers in Vologda and Cherepovets, large industrial entities of Cherepovets district such as JSC SeverstalMetiz, JSC Ammophos, JSC Cherepovetskiy Azot depends on uninterrupted operation of the substation.
