OREANDA-NEWS. October 13, 2010.   Ahead of the contractual terms, Power Machines OJSC has begun shipment of parts and components for the new hydraulic generator with capacity of 640 MW for the restoration of the hydraulic set No. 1 of RusHydro JSC's Sayano-Shushenskaya HPP.

Power Machines OJSC has already manufactured and sent to the customer a part of the equipment for the new hydraulic set No. 1 of Sayano-Shushenskaya HPP. This includes: a stator body (supplied loose), a set of devices for the assembly of the stator, etc. The manufacture of all parts and components of the hydraulic generator for the hydraulic set No. 1 will be completed in December 2010. The works on manufacturing a hydraulic turbine for the hydraulic set No. 1 are also currently in progress by Power Machines OJSC in accordance with the manufacturing schedule. The start of the hydraulic set No. 1, under the Sayano-Shushenskaya HPP restoration schedule approved by the Ministry of Energy, is scheduled for December 2011.

OJSC Power Machines have previously manufactured and supplied to the station a full set of spare parts and excitation systems for hydraulic systems No. 6, No. 5 and No. 4 for restoration of those hydraulic sets that remained relatively undamaged after the accident at Sayano-Shushenskaya HPP. The company has also, ahead of the contractual terms, supplied a new hydraulic generator and an excitation system required to replace the damaged generator of the hydraulic generator No.3, which will be run at commercial load in December 2010. Hydraulic sets No.6  and No. 5 were restored and put to service ahead of the schedule - in February-March 2010. The start of the hydraulic set No. 4, under the Sayano-Shushenskaya HPP restoration schedule approved by the Ministry of Energy, was carried out on August 2, 2010. Commissioning of HS No. 3 is scheduled for December 2010.

The contract for the manufacture of the main power equipment for the restoration of Sayano-Shushenskaya HPP was concluded by Power Machines OJSC and RusHydro JSC in November 2009. In accordance with the contract, Power Machines will manufacture ten turbines and nine hydraulic generators with capacity to 640 MW, as well as six excitation systems. In addition, experts of Power Machines OJSC will provide installation services for the equipment supplied, including installation supervision and commissioning. The contract value amounts to RUR 11.7 bln (without VAT).

The service life of new hydraulic generators will be increased to 40 years, with the maximum turbine efficiency of 96.6%.  Its power and cavitation characteristics will be improved. The turbines will also be equipped with a more effective system of technological protections, automatically shutting down the unit in case of unacceptable mode deviations of parameters monitored.
