OREANDA-NEWS. October 13, 2010. EuroChem subsidiary EuroChem-VolgaKaliy, located in Kotelnikovo, Volgograd Region, has designated 10 million rubles for the construction of social infrastructure in villages and towns of the Volgograd Region that have suffered from wildfires. The fires, which spread as a result of strong winds and downed power lines, destroyed around 500 buildings, 447 of which were residential houses, in 12 settlements of the region. About one thousand people were left homeless, including children, women and the elderly.

The total number of the people suffering in one way or another from the fires exceeds 8,000. The fire has been brought under control, but its consequences unfortunately have yet to be mitigated.

The RUR 10 m provided by EuroChem-VolgaKaliy will go toward activities organized to help the citizens who suffered from fires on the territory of the Volgograd Region, and will be spent on the construction of three rural health clinics in villages of Aleksandrovka and Fomenkovo (Zhirnovsky Ddistrict, Volgograd Region), and in the Cossack Village of Lapshinskaya (Kotovsky District, Volgograd Region).
