OREANDA-NEWS. October 18, 2010. The World Steel Association has hosted its regular annual meeting for metals businesses.  The private session attended by the SCM Group summed up the results of the year and discussed development prospects of the industry.

Regular annual meeting of the World Steel Association was held in Tokyo, Japan. The Worldsteel's 44th Annual Conference "Sustainable Steel Building" offered a wide range of issues for discussion. The delegates spoke about prospects of the global economy, the opportunities opened up to steelworkers by the developing car industry and trends in energy efficiency as well as about seismic engineering and the role of steelworkers in this sector.

The event brought together senior managers from over 160 world steel member companies from across the globe. SCM Group was represented at the conference by SCM CEO Oleg Popov, SCM Director of Mining & Metals Business Development Amir Aisautov and the CEO of METINVEST HOLDING Igor Syry.

Amir Aisautov made the following comment on the SCM Group's participation in the conference: "We appreciate the opportunity to participate in the global discussion of the future of mining and metals, make our own contribution to discussing and setting the trends that will drive the global mining and metals growth. We believe that Metinvest as the largest mining and metals holding in Ukraine should participate in this dialogue."

"During the Worldsteel Conference we discussed the views on the global mining and metals, exchanged experience with our existing and - I hope - future partners as well as made new business contacts for the SCM Group," added Amir Aisautov.
