OREANDA-NEWS. October 22, 2010. Vnukovo's year-on-year passenger growth has improved throughout the Airport's range of [air transportation] operations over this year's nine months. A total of 112,046 flights has been handled at the Airport during the period under review, a 16,1 percent improvement against last year's same period. 7 million 336 thousand air travelers have used the Airport's services, a 25,1 percent growth against the same period in 2009.

The Airport's scheduled international passenger numbers (those bound for the CIS nations and farther abroad) have been displaying the most dynamic growth trend at 68,8 percent in September 2010 alone, with Dushanbe, Yerevan, Simferopol, Gyandzha, and Tashkent topping the Airport's list of most popular destinations.

The segment of international charter services has also grown appreciably, from a 30,4 percent share in September 2009 to that of 36,7 percent in September 2010.

Vnukovo's domestic passenger numbers over this year's month of September have comprised 604,4 thousand which is a 7,1 improvement against September 2009 with its respective 564,5 thousand air travelers.

As for the total number of air travelers the Airport has welcomed over this past September, it comprises 961,546.00 and a 17,6 percent improvement against last year's same period. 14,003 flights have been handled at the Airport over the period - 12,7 percent more than in September 2009.

Vnukovo International is one of Russia's largest air gateways with more than 130 thousand flights - operated by around 200 domestic and foreign air carriers - handled here annually. The Airport's route network spans most of Russia's regions, the CIS and other former Union-member nations, as well as destinations in Western Europe, Asia, and Africa.
