OREANDA-NEWS. October 27, 2010. ERA-GLONASS was tested in Dubna, Moscow region, on Oct. 21. The purpose of the test was to validate interaction between the system and road accident response services.

The simulated road accident involved ERA-GLONASS mock-up, a bus, fire, first aid and militia brigades.

According to statistics, mostly people die after the road accidents because they are not delivered to hospitals in time. ERA-GLONASS is to reduce this timing, as the cars will be equipped with a special emergency button which is triggered in case of an accident sending the signal to relevant services.

The simulation in Dubna provided the opportunity to evaluate the system and to submit ERA-GLONASS improvement proposals. Next year Dubna will take part in the tests of completed ERA-GLONASS.

In a few years, this emergency navigation equipment will be installed on all state and private transport vehicles, local Administration reports.
