OREANDA-NEWS. October 29, 2010. Alfa Bank, a major Ukrainian commercial bank, made a coupon payment worth USD  27.3mn and redeemed the first batch of the principal worth USD 105.1mn on its Eurobonds, according to the statement made by the bank Oct 28.

Millennium Capital considers the news as POSITIVE for ALFAUA. Despite concerns over the condition of the bank’s loan book Alfa Bank managed to repay a considerable amount of its obligations (roughly 3.9% of its assets) remaining liquid and posting profits for the three consecutive quarters in 2010. Meanwhile, the current repayment by Alfa Bank may very well serve as an indicator of the improving stance of the banking system of Ukraine that rests on the ample dollar and hryvnia liquidity.
