OREANDA-NEWS. November 09, 2010. The Government will not rise the retirement age. The Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov said. He stressed that neither the President nor the Prime Minister never posed the question of retirement age rising.

"Neither the President nor the Prime Minister never said that in 2011 retirement age will be risen. Why do we have discussions about those issues that were never had on the agenda? This theme was conceived by our opponents and used during the election campaign" - Mykola Azarov emphasized.

According to him, the Government intends to implement the pension reform in several stages, and it is designed for several years. One of the main goals of pension reform is to create incentives to entice working people to accumulate funds to personal accounts in order of seniority, to have these accounts for pension paying. In that way people will also be interested in working longer. The transition from today’s pension solidarity system to pension insurance would take many years. Meanwhile, pension funds will create a significant resource for economic growth and thus improve pension provision in the country.

"Only when the life expectancy in our country will increase, we will consider the possibility of, I underline, probable change of the retirement age for certain categories of people. This is final, distant stage of the pension reform" - the Prime Minister said.
