OREANDA-NEWS. November 09, 2010. Belarus hopes for the successful implementation of joint projects with Venezuela. Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko made this statement as he met with Venezuela’s Foreign Minister Nicolas Maduro Moros on 8 November.

“Please, give my best regards to my friend Hugo Chavez. Tell him that we are determined to implement all the arrangements we reached during our recent meeting,” Alexander Lukashenko said.

The President of Belarus noted that he is ready to discuss all new proposals related to the bilateral cooperation and hear out the initiatives of the Venezuelan side. “It is a good visit after such a notable meeting. I think it will produce good results,” he emphasized.

“I know you have been instructed by the President of Venezuela to discuss a set of questions in Belarus. I am ready to consider requests and proposals of the Venezuelan President and discuss issues,” Alexander Lukashenko said.

Nicolas Maduro Moros noted that his visit to Belarus is aimed first of all to cement the positions that were discussed on the highest level during the recent visit of Hugo Chavez. “I have brought best wishes from Hugo Chavez and a set of important topics in elaboration of the talks that took place in Belarus during the visit of the President,” he underlined.

The Foreign Minister of Venezuela noted that he had already met with First Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Vladimir Semashko on 8 November to discuss the abovementioned topics. “We continue working on our arrangements in power engineering. I am sure we are advancing quite fast,” Nicolas Maduro Moros said.

A reminder, the President of Venezuela was on an official visit to Belarus on 15-18 October 2010. During the visit several bilateral documents were signed, like a contract between Belarus Oil Company and the PDVSA company to supply oil in 2011-2013, a memorandum of understanding on expanding the premises of Petrolera BeloVenesolana, a charter of the seismological joint venture Sismica BeloVenesolana, documents to construct social housing in Venezuela by Belarusian specialists.
