OREANDA-NEWS. November 13, 2010. The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) has become a monopoly in the gas market in Georgia.

SOCAR president Rovnag Abdullayev has claimed told that the Company provides 70-75% of the gas market in Georgia.

"We are supplying gas not only for 30 retail networks that are run through SOCAR Georgia Gas, but also to other gas customers in Georgia," he said.

The SOCAR is also consulting with the Georgian side about ensuring control to prevent Azeri gas delivery to Armenia which is occupying 20% of Azerbaijani territory.

"We also keep an interest in privatization of Georgian gas pipeline network,” Abdullayev emphasized.
