OREANDA-NEWS. December 2, 2010. Ingosstrakh won the tender of Russian Satellite Communications Company (RSCC). The company will insure seven spacecrafts:  Express -AM1, Express-AM2, Express -AM3, Express -AM22, Express -AM33, Express -AM44 and Express -MD1. The total insured amount is 8.4 bln rubles.

The spacecrafts are insured against total or partial loss during their on-station operation. The risks are reinsured in international and Russian insurance markets.

Note that Ingosstrakh has been traditionally insuring the RSCC space risks since 2004. For the period of partnership Ingosstrakh has insured the following spacecrafts: Gorizont No.45, Express-A1, Express-A2, Express-A3, Express-AM1, Express-AM2, Express-AM3, Express-AM11, Express-AM22, Express-AM33, Express-AM44, Express-MD1.

In 2009 Ingosstrakh paid 1.071 bln rubles to RSCC. The payment was made due to a partial loss of Express-AM2 spacecraft because of abnormal operation of solar cell battery rotator.

In 2006 the insurance company paid more than USD 1.5 mln, because Express-A1P correction engines had failed to operate. And in 2000 it paid a compensation of USD 12.5 mln due to the loss of Express-A1 because of Proton booster failure.

Ingosstrakh takes an active part in international space insurance projects.  In 2010 a payment of about USD 2.2 mln was made upon failed launch of an Indonesian satellite using a Chinese booster.
