OREANDA-NEWS. December 02, 2010.  Stroytransgaz has completed construction of the linear part of the oil pipeline Baltic Pipeline System–2 ahead of a schedule. At present hydro testing and diagnostics of the 557–643-kilometers section take place. In December 2010 HV line-10 kV will be installed. 

In May 2009 Stroytransgaz started works on construction of BTS-2 pipeline section in Novgorod region under the general contract with Transneft. The section total length is190 km with 1,067 mm in diameter. Originally according to construction schedule the project was to be implemented in 2012. However, in the course of the contract fulfillment completion period was reduced by 9 months on the client’s request. Later, due to efforts of Stroytransgaz and Transneft specialists, equipment and materials were delivered in advance and additional technical and human resources were accumulated, which accelerated construction pace even more.

As a part of its contract obligations Stroytransgaz has constructed cleaning and diagnostic facilities, 13 linear and onshore block valve stations, 64 underwater crossings through small and large water ponds, 27 road crossings, installed more than 120 km of track and access roads. The construction on almost whole rout went on in high water content and bogginess. There were 870 people and 576 equipment units involved into the construction process.

In 2011 seasonal and adjustment works (technical and biological soil recultivation) will be carried out, and after that the facility will be put in commissioning.

Additional information:
Baltic Pipeline System is supposed to export Russian oil of Timano-Pechorsk region, Western Siberia, Ural-Volga region including some raw stock of CIS countries. Total length of the pipeline is 1.170 km. Phase one capacity is 30 million tons of oil per year, capacity of phase two 50 million tons. The project is to be completed in December 2013.

According to the main contract the part of work by Stroytransgaz includes pipeline section of Baltic Pipeline System–2 (BTS-2), and construction of Intermediate Pumping Station (IPS) No7 in 40 km from Veliky Novgorod as well. The station capacity will be 30 million tons of oil per year. At present all the buildings and facilities of the IPS have already been installed; the heating system is being warmed and boiler house prepared for operation. According to the schedule of the project implementation, construction of the object will be finished at 2012.
