OREANDA-NEWS. December 3, 2010. Donetsk saw a number of activities dedicated to the 10th Anniversary of System Capital Management, which became a gift presented by the company to its home city and inhabitants of Donetsk.

In particular, SCM initiated Art Point, an unmatched international project and the first event focused on the modern art in Donetsk and devoted entirely to the city and the locals. The project pursues the idea of introducing the art into the public space and enriching the daily life of the citizens with aesthetic significance.

After three weeks in Donetsk thirteen young artists from ten countries of Europe and Asia representing different cultural traditions created the image of the City of the Future. The futuristic versions of Donetsk made by a creative group in an urban art-lab were brought together into an exhibition with four sections: City and Structure, Heroes, City and Condition and Prophesy and Reality.

Natalia Yemchenko, SCM's Director of Public Relations and Communications, says that the projects bears a part of SCM's philosophy. "We are people with open eyes and mind and we seek to look at things as widely as possible. We thought it would be good to do something new in the city, even if it seemed hard to understand at first glance. Our initial intention is to broaden horizons, surprise and encourage people to take a new look of our city."

"We invited artists, who have never heard of Donetsk and had no cliches. They came here and lived in the atmosphere of this city. An aspect of our project is the attitude of artists, who needed to grasp this atmosphere. Every artist portrayed the city as he saw it. You should see these art pieces not as a reflection of the atmosphere but as the feelings of an author and the perception of the City by an artist. I believe that a serious good dialogue is starting between artists and the public," commented Lyudmila Bereznitskaya, an exhibition curator.

The exhibition will be open until 3 December 2010 in Donetsk City shopping centre, which helped to realize the project. Everybody can visit it free of charge.
