OREANDA-NEWS. December 06, 2010. The medicines supplied to storehouses in Moldova after September 1 of this year may be sold in drugstores only starting from January 1, 2011 at prices registered in the National Price Catalogue. Minister of Health Vladimir Hotineanu told journalists it is stipulated by the amendments to the legislation in force approved by the government and called on to contribute to the reduction in prices for medicines and securing the pharmaceutical security of the country.

According to the government’s decree, the cost of medicines supplied to storehouses after September 1 is to be revised according to the Catalogue of Prices for 2011 to be approved after December 20 for the trade markup for them to be fixed taking into account the producer’s price registered in the price catalogue instead of the purchasing price.

It is stipulated that the medicines supplied to drugstores before September 1, 2010 can be sold at purchasing prices at which they were imported to Moldova. The competent institutions are planned to start checking the correctness of formation of prices for medicines in drugstores starting from January 1, 2011.

It should be noted that according to the government’s data, medicines import has grown twice lately as the pharmaceutical companies working in the market intend to register medicines at higher prices and to try to sell them at a higher cost starting from January 1 next year. Currently, a commercial markup not exceeding 40% can be applied to medicines purchased from a producer: economic agents importing medicines have right to set a commercial markup in the amount of up to 15%, drugstores – up to 25%.
