OREANDA-NEWS. December 06, 2010. AvtoVAZ has filed a complaint to the FAS, regarding Severstal’s intention to raise the base price for motorcar body sheet by 30% in 2011, the AvtoVAZ press-service reported. “AvtoVAZ is currently in talks with sheet suppliers, Severstal and MMK, over deliveries in 2011-2013.

We have suggested that metal makers prolong the current contract for 3 more years with the base price set at the 2010 level, to be further re-estimated as agreed by the parties”, the carmaker spokesperson said. He added Severstal was set to raise the base price for automobile body sheets by 30% in 2011.

Severstal is AvtoVAZ’s monopolist vendor in 6 product items. “Replacement and homologation of these parts could take us more than 12 months. For this reason, we would like to reach a reasonable compromise with Severstal”, the AvtoVAZ spokesperson said. On November 26, the carmaker applied to the FAS, asking it to consider the unjustified, in plant’s view, increase in prices for some of the product items supplied by Severstal. “The price hike could cause us to upgrade prices for ready-made cars by up to 3.5%”, the same spokesperson said.
