OREANDA-NEWS. December 8, 2010. Uzbekistan and Germany established favorable trade regime in accordance with the agreement "On partnership and cooperation between Uzbekistan and European Union".

The volume of bilateral turnover between the two countries comprised USD 469.4 million on the results of 2009 and USD 338.6 million in January-August 2010.

Presently, 129 enterprises established with the participation of German investors operate in Uzbekistan. Out of them 25 enterprises are with 100% German share and 104 enterprises are joint-ventures.

The activity of these companies focuses in such branches as light industry, the production of medical and pharmaceutical products, agricultural products reprocessing, cargo and passenger traffic, scientific developments, trade, etc.

Presently, representations of 56 German companies are accredited by the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations and Trade.

Moreover, a range of important projects aimed at the development of the system of professional education, health, agriculture, small business, transport infrastructure and communications have been implemented under the financial support of Germany.

For the period of cooperation with KfB German bank of development, the total volume of funds issued to Uzbekistan in the form of preferential credits and grants comprised 240.54 million Euros.
