OREANDA-NEWS. December 09, 2010. Gomel Chemical Plant is set to triple the output of NPK-fertilizers to 1.26 million tonnes a year.

According to its investment program for 2009-2015, Gomel Chemical Plant intends to revamp primary production lines and to build a new section for NPK-fertilizers. It will allow to increase the volume of production of NPT-fertilizers up to 1.26 million tonnes a year and to meet the demand of domestic agricultural organizations. The export capacity of the plant will grow as well.

Gomel Chemical Plant has produced complex mineral fertilizers since 1973. Back then the company manufactured as little as 100,000 tonnes a year.

In order to expand the product portfolio, Gomel Chemical Plant has implemented flexible energy efficient technologies to produce MAP, DIP and NPK-fertilizers. Today the plant produces nitrogen-phosphorus-potassium fertilizers of various grades. If required, the plant can produce these fertilizers with improved physicochemical characteristics. The annual capacity is 300,000 tonnes a year.

Belaruskali is also set to produce complex NPK-fertilizers, according to its Technological Development Program for 2011-2015.

The first line of Gomel Chemical Plant, namely a section for sulfuric acid production and the central laboratory, was put into operation in 1965. In 2000 Gomel Chemical Plant was renamed into the republican unitary enterprise “Gomel Chemical Plant”, and in 2003 it was transformed into the joint stock company “Gomel Chemical Plant”. Today it is one of Belarus’ largest producers of complex mineral fertilizers such as ammophos, ammonized superphosphate and nitrogen-phosphorus-potassium fertilizers. It is a member of the Belneftekhim concern.
