OREANDA-NEWS. December 16, 2010. Mr. Rovnag Abdullayev, SOCAR President received the delegation led by Mr. Yuriy Boyko, Fuel and Energy Minister of Ukraine. Mr. Abdullayev said that Azerbaijan and Ukraine had established high-level political, economic, scientific and cultural relations, and the development of those relations was supported at presidential level. He spoke about the achievements in oil and gas industry in recent years, informed about regional energy projects implemented in the country and activities of SOCAR.

He pointed out that those projects met the energy demand of Azerbaijan and the region’s countries, as well as they had great promise in ensuring energy security of Europe. According to the Ukrainian Minister, his country is closely following Azerbaijani projects and is interested in close cooperation with Azerbaijan in the energy sector. By pointing out the contribution of both countries’ presidents to developing mutual relations, Mr. Boyko was pleased to note that those relations rested upon economic cooperation mainly.

Mr. Boyko noted that Azerbaijan have confidently entered into Ukrainian energy market. He estimated the opening of retail network by SOCAR in Ukraine as illustration of close partnership between two countries. He expressed his country’s will to expand the cooperation in energy sector. In turn, SOCAR President said the company would expand its investment projects in Ukraine and expressed his confidence in enhancing the energy cooperation between two countries.
