OREANDA-NEWS. December 22, 2010. Belarus’ foreign commodity trade deficit amounted to USD 6.933 billion in January-October 2010, compared to a USD 5.704 billion deficit in January-October 2010, according to the National Statistics Committee.

Exports rose 17% in January-October 2010 year-on-year to USD 19.878 billion, and imports increased 18.2% to USD 26.811 billion.

Exports from Belarus included USD 10.987 billion worth of supplies to CIS states, up 47.5% on the year, including exports to Russia, which stood at USD 7.999 million, up 48.6% and to Kazakhstan at USD 395.4 million, up 49.3%.

Exports to non-CIS countries amounted to USD 8.892 billion as of November 1, 2010, down 6.8% on the year.

Belarusian imports from CIS countries rose 9.2% to USD 15.845 billion, including imports from Russia at USD 14 billion, up 5.1% on the year, and from Kazakhstan at USD 285.8 million, up 380%.

Imports from non-CIS countries went up 34% on the year to USD 10.966 billion.

The deficit of commodity trade with CIS countries came to USD 4.859 million, down 31.1% on the year in the period. The deficit of commodity trade with Russia fell 24.4% year-on-year in January-October 2010 to USD 6.001 million. In trade with Kazakhstan, Belarus showed a USD 109.6 million surplus, down 46.5%.

The deficit of foreign trade with countries outside the CIS reached USD 2.074 billion in January-October 2010, compared with a surplus of USD 1.352 billion surplus in January-October 2009.

The CIS accounted for 57.5% of Belarus’ trade turnover in January-October 2010, Russia accounted for 47.1%, while non-CIS foreign states are responsible for 42.5%.
