OREANDA-NEWS. December 23, 2010. A constituent conference of the Alliance of NGOs "Climate changes & development" has been organized in Baku today.

Within the conference coordinator of project "Risk management and socio-economic threats posed by climate change" Aytekin Askerova summed up the results of done work.

Jan Olson, the head of the Environment & Economics Department of the Baku-based OSCE resident office, told of the program of civilian activities on environment and security realized since 2009 by the Center for Economic Research with financial support of the Austrian Government and company Statoil.

The event was attended by representatives of the Ministries of Emergencies, of Environment & Natural Resources, the Ombudsman Office, the Parliament of Azerbaijan, as well as humanitarian organization Oxfam, OSCE, local NGOs and the media.

The conference published the results of studies conducted by the World Bank, in accordance with which Azerbaijan ranks 11th position among the 28 countries most touched by climate changes and 7th position on the index of protection against climate changes.

At the conclusion of the Alliance’s constituent memorandum was signed.
