OREANDA-NEWS. January 03, 2011. In 2010 Medplast’s export of syringes is up 28.8% from a year earlier.

Medplast began exporting syringes in 2009. Last year overseas sales amounted to 12 million syringes to the tune of USD 369,400. By the end of this year exports will reach 16.1 million units worth USD 612,800. In 2011 the company is set to export 18.7 million syringes to a total of USD 659,000.

Syringes are exported to Moscow and Moscow Oblast, Stavropol Oblast, Ural region of Russia. The company is working hard to expand the range of customers. However, it is difficult to increase the number of customers in Russia as the market is highly saturated and competition is high. Yet, sales of Belarusian syringes in Russia are steadily increasing. Contracts for the supply of Medplast products were prolonged for next year.

Currently, the company is looking to start exporting syringes to Ukraine. For that the Belarusian products need to be registered. The company hopes to get necessary documents registered in the first quarter of 2011. Potential customers in Ukraine are already interested in Medpalst products.

With regard to domestic sales, Medplast sold 120.2 million syringes in Belarus in 2009. This year, sales are projected at the level of the previous year, and in 2011 will grow to 123.2 million syringes.

The Gomel company was founded in 1966 as a plastic products plant. In 1992 Medplast started producing single-use syringes and is Belarus’ sole manufacturer of this product. Medplast’s main consumers are healthcare institutions of Belarus.
