OREANDA-NEWS. January 14, 2011. ABBYY FlexiCapture 9.0 software system provides a stream data capture to form an electronic document archive.

ABBYY, the world’s leading linguistic software developer and supplier of linguistic, document recognition and data capture services, is announcing integration of ABBYY FlexiCapture 9.0, a stream document input system, in OJSC IC ROSNO. This software integration is part of the project aimed at supplying the insurance company with a unified data storage and processing system, implemented with participation of ABBYY experts. By now, the first project stage has been completed, with ABBYY FlexiCapture already processing a number of insurance and financial documents issued by ROSNO’s Moscow Regional Directorate.

In course of forming a unified electronic archive, the management of IC ROSNO had to decide which stream data capture system should be selected to process the operating documentation before it is archived. Three software solutions participated in the tender held by the insurance company — ABBYY FlexiCapture, EMC Captiva, and Kofax. Following the results of the testing, the customer’s expert commission picked up the solution from ABBYY as the one most balanced in terms of functionality, cost, and quality of technical support. The system is being implemented by one of the leading Russian integrators — I.T. Co., in cooperation with ABBYY experts.

ABBYY FlexiCapture will help IC ROSNO to speed up processing and archiving of operating documentation in the electronic data storage system based on the IBM Content Manager platform. In its turn, the electronic archive will boost data safety and enable the company employees to perform quick search for the necessary documents. All this will enable OJSC IC ROSNO to achieve a significant increase in speed, efficiency and quality of processing the client documents.

Presently, ABBYY FlexiCapture is already used to process all types of OMTPL documents, and a number of financial documents: A-7 receipt, outgoing payment orders, payment requests, cash receipts, and transaction memos. The templates for the abovementioned types of documents were developed by ABBYY experts.

The architectural peculiarity of the solution is the territorial distribution of the processing stages enabled owing to the scalability of ABBYY FlexiCapture. The system has been installed in Moscow, and documents are scanned and recognized in various Moscow offices of the company, while their verification is performed in the company’s Operating Centre in Voronezh. The process involves just a few employees, and the document processing time is minimal.

"The introduction of the data capture system ABBYY FlexiCapture will enable us to ensure continuity of our main business processes, simplify and centralize bulk document processing operations in the unified Operating Centre in Voronezh and thus decrease the company’s costs", says Mr. Mikhail Kirillov, head of the Insurance Documentation Processing Department of OJSC IC ROSNO.

"Following the results of the first stage of the project, we may safely conclude that business processes in ROSNO’s Moscow offices have been notably optimized. We hope that at the second stage we will achieve the same results in other branches of the company", notes Mr. Sergey Kovalyov, CIO of OJSC IC ROSNO.

The second stage and consecutive integration stages will see implementation of remote scanning in all regional offices of IC ROSNO. The automated processing based on ABBYY FlexiCapture will apply to the documents related to settlement of client losses (representing a significant part of work of any insurance company), MOD policies and annexes thereto, VMI policies, Green Card contracts, property insurance contracts, etc.
