OREANDA-NEWS. January 26, 2011. Since December 1, Sibirtelecom OJSC has decreased the Social tariff plan for the Internet access in the Republic of Altai, Buryatia, and Khakassia, as well as in the Irkutsk region and Zabaikalsk krai. This policy of the Company aims to increase the level of availability of information resources to the population in the whole Siberian region.

For the first time Sibirtelecom introduced a tariff plan for the Internet access services in June of 2010. By supporting the initiative of the Russian Government to increase availability of Internet resources, the Company managed to establish universal tariffs that are optimal for the population of the Siberian region in terms of price and quality.

“The development of Internet in the modern society plays the great role. Informatization is penetrating in all spheres of public life, and the majority social communications is shown in the Internet," emphasized Ivan Dadykin, General Director of Sibirtelecom OJSC, “As a socially oriented company, Sibirtelecom is aware of its liability to the people in Siberia and makes Internet services available to Siberians, including low-income groups of people.”

In regional, krai and republican centers of the Republic of Alta, Buryatia, and Khakassia, as well as in Irkutsk region and Zabaikalsk krai the social tariff was reduced from 350 to 150 rubles for providing Internet access at a speed of 128 kbit/s, in the rest settlements of these regions the tariff was decreased from 300 to 100 rubles for providing Internet access at a speed of 64 kbit/s. These tariffs do not include the rate for providing a broad-band access port. It should be mentioned that this tariff plan stipulates the limit for the downloaded traffic: if the inbound traffic exceeds 2 Gb in the current month, the Internet access speed decreases from 128 kbit/s to  64 kbit/s and from 64 kbit/s to 32 kbit/s.
