OREANDA-NEWS. January 28, 2011. Renaissance Asset Managers, the investment management business of the leading emerging markets integrated investment firm Renaissance Group, today announces that Sven Richter has been appointed to the role of Managing Director, Head of Frontier Markets.

In this new role, Mr Richter will manage a number of Renaissance Asset Managers’ emerging markets funds, including the soon-to-be-launched Global Frontiers Fund, which will be added to Renaissance Asset Mangers’ fast-growing and unique Luxembourg UCITS III Fund. He will also have responsibility for the liquid assets and strategies in the firm’s African asset management proposition. In addition, Mr. Richter will work with Plamen Monovski, CIO of Renaissance Asset Managers, on the strategy for and buildout of the firm’s asset management business in the frontier markets and Africa.

Mr Richter joins Renaissance Asset Managers from Templeton's emerging markets group where he managed a number of funds and also launched two of Templeton’s first frontier market strategies. Mr Richter was responsible for highly regarded, proprietary research in Africa, and the commodities sector in particular. Whilst at Templeton, he gained two decades of experience in working in the fastest-growing markets around the globe.

Commenting on the appointment, Ashar Qureshi, Chief Executive Officer, said: "I would like to congratulate Sven on his new role. As we continue to be the specialist asset manager for investing in Russia/CIS, Emerging Europe and Africa, Sven’s portfolio management experience, combined with his strategic expertise in Emerging Market funds, will be invaluable to us in rapidly growing our funds portfolio. Sven will play a key role in managing our Global Frontiers Fund.”

Sven Richter responded: “I am excited by the opportunity to work for Renaissance Asset Managers and the new challenges this will bring. Frontier markets and the African continent are at an earlier stage of development than the more mature emerging markets. This, coupled with the natural resources these countries have and their young, growing populations, provides us with an exciting opportunity to offer investors access to these markets at a very attractive entry point. We are seeing a major, value driven opportunity for investors in the current climate and we are well positioned as a company to manage these funds in these exciting markets. I am confident that my 16 year experience in frontiers at one of the premier investment managers worldwide will be instrumental in capturing the opportunity.”
