OREANDA-NEWS. January 31, 2011. Retail sales of consumer goods to population in 2010 totaled 25.1 billion leis, up 8.9% against 2009. The growth resulted from the increase in sales of non-food goods – by 11.2% - to 17,071.3 million leis, and the increase in sales of foodstuffs – by 3.7% - to 8,013.9 million leis, it was informed at the National Statistics Office.

A 9.9% growth of retail sales was seen by joint enterprises (with foreign capital participation), a 9.2% growth – by private enterprises and a 5.1% - by public enterprises. At the same time, sales of enterprise of the mixed ownership form (public+private) reduced by 11.6%. The biggest proportion in the total volume of retail sales fell to the share of Chisinau – 58.1%, followed by Balti – 7.8%.

The enterprises’ stock available as of January 1, 2011 totaled 6.7 billion leis, up 7.1% against the situation as of January 1, 2010. In December 2010, retail sales of trading enterprises totaled 2,579.1 million leis, up 12.6% from the previous month and 9.2% - in comparison with December 2009.
