OREANDA-NEWS. February 09, 2011. Freight flows passing via Port of Kavkaz shrank by 23.8% in January as compared with the same period in 2010, to 369,850 tons.

Exports volume grew by nearly 10% from 2010’s figures, to 347,660 tons, while imports slumped by 4.4 times, to 22,190 tons. In January the port handled 125 vessels, 11% less than a year ago.

Port of Kavkaz is situated between the Azov and the Russian Black Sea coast. The 4.5m-deep harborage allows handling both river boats and seagoing ships (at outer anchorage). The port’s loading berths facilities are intended for handling bulked cargoes (mineral fertilizers, concentrates of various ores, grain) as well as general, timber, and containerized commodities. In 2010, freight volume handled at the port of Kavkaz reached nearly10 million tons.
