JSC SITRONICS (LSE:SITR), a leading supplier of the solutions in the field of telecommunications, information technologies and microelectronics in Russia and CIS informs that its subsidiary, the OJSC NIIME and Mikron offered a new product – high frequency RFID self-adhesive tags with the micro-chip for automated registration of library fund. The customer was the International Center of Techology Transfer, which, being a system integrator, implements the projects regarding introduction of RFID control system for the library funds of Siberian State Medical University in Tomsk.

The tag containing the unique code is placed on the book or on CD. Besides, the system assumes equipment oft he libraries with the readers in different configurations, installation of intellectual shelves, installation of software for automated registration system and introduction of the library passes with RFID tag.

More than 150 libraries globally use the RFID to optimize their work. Among them is the National Library of Singapore, Public Library in Wintertur (Switzerland), Mastics Morichles Shirley Com. Library L.I. (USA), Eindhoven Library (Netherlands). The utilization of RFID tags in the libraries allows to reduce significantly the financial costs and time for search and issue of materials, control of location and safety of the funds, increase of the level of service for the visitors, also through introduction of the self-service stands.

„The RFID tags is a perspective market for Russia. In the nearest futre the volume of library tags can be 50 million tags. Besides, the potential area for application oft he RFID labels and tags ist he pharmaceutical market, the market of jewlery goods, labeling of post, archieve and museum funds“, said Andrei Golushko, Commercial Director of OJSC NIIME and Mikron.

The Mikron factory in Zelenograd implemented the full production cycle for RFID products starting from the development oft he micro-chip and tot he finished card or tag, which ensures the safety and allows to consider the individual requirements of each customer. In the beginning of January Micron opened a laboratory for development and measurement of RFID products in all available frequencies: LF, HF, UHF. The laboratory allows to model the characteristics of antenna, to test the compatability of antenna and chip, to measure the parameters oft he product for specific operational environment.
