OREANDA-NEWS. March 1, 2011. During the previous month, 80 customers of Latvenergo AS, the largest electricity producer and trader in Latvia, extended their agreements for the supply of electricity in Latvia. In the last few months of 2010, the amount of electricity sold by Latvenergo on the free market in Latvia grew by 12%. In total, Latvenergo AS supplies energy to more than 1200 free market customers in our country.

Considering that all these companies have the right to choose their electricity producer based on the most advantageous offer, with tenders and price quotation being used during the selection process, one may conclude that the companies have responded favourably to the offer of Latvenergo AS.

A large number of companies conduct open tenders for procurement of electricity, selecting the lowest bidder with the most adequate offer. The major customers that have decided to continue their successful cooperation with Latvenergo AS include Vika Wood SIA, Lukoil Baltija R SIA and Sweedwood Latvia SIA.

Latvenergo AS is the largest electricity producer and trader in Latvia, not only supplying electricity to the regulated market customers, i.e. households and captive users (minor legal entities), but also successfully cooperating with those market customers, who purchase electricity at an agreed price. Overall, the Latvian power company has 30% of the Baltic market, actively trading in its services abroad, with the total number of customers already exceeding one million.
