OREANDA-NEWS. March 04, 2011. Rustam Minnikhanov, Tatarstan’s President, is in Baku with a working visit. Tatarstan’s delegation includes Sergey Kogogin, Director General of OJSC KAMAZ.

During his visit, Rustam Minnikhanov plans to meet Ilham Aliyev, Azerbaijan’s President; Kamaladdin Heydarov, Minister of Emergency Situations; Oktay Asadov, Parliamentary Speaker. The parties plan to discuss issues of cooperation development in the sphere of economy and, in particular, between Azerbaijan’s and Tatarstan’s enterprises.

It should be recalled that sales of KAMAZ vehicles in Azerbaijan are almost 7 times as high as in 2009 and higher than in 2007. Overall sales increased 2.7 times for a year.

In 2010, KAMAZ trucks were also delivered to South Ossetia under a state contract, Armenia and Abkhazia also purchased KAMAZ heavy-duty trucks. As a result, Zakavkazje became the fourth region in the world after Kazakhstan, Ukraine and Central Asia by volumes of realization of KAMAZ trucks.

The fleet of trucks of the KAMAZ class in Azerbaijan numbers about 50 thousand units, 22 thousand units of which are KAMAZ trucks. Most of these trucks have been used for a long time (for about 20 years) and need renovation. Therefore, for instance, Azerbaijan’s annual heavy-duty truck market capacity only is 1,400-1,500 units. Like in many other post-Soviet countries, the main customers are state ministries and municipalities of large cities, large state-owned industrial and construction companies.
