OREANDA-NEWS. March 5, 2011. An exhibition titled “N.K. Baibakov. The Path of the Creator,” opened today with  LUKOIL support at the State Central Museum of Contemporary History of Russia. It is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Nikolay Konstantinovich Baibakov, a prominent public figure, who greatly contributed to the development of Russia’s oil industry.

The exhibition includes objects from the Baibakovs family archive, the collections of the State Central Museum of Contemporary History of Russia, and from JSC  LUKOIL's museum. Starting his career as an engineer at the Baku oil fields, Nikolay Baibakov was appointed Deputy People’s Commissar of the Soviet Union’s oil industry at the age of 29, while in 1944 he took the lead of the industry and kept this position until 1955. From 1965 to 1985, he held the positions of Deputy Chairman of the USSR Council of Ministers and Chairman of the USSR State Planning Committee. Until the very end of his life Nikolay Baibakov worked at the Oil and Gas Institute under the Russian Academy of Sciences.

The exhibition will be open until March 20, 2011. As part of the exhibition, a workshop conference titled “N.K. Baibakov and Innovations in the Modern Oil and Gas Complex” will take place on March 2, 2011 at the JSC  LUKOIL Headquarters.
