OREANDA-NEWS. March 9, 2011. Vyksa Steel Works (VSW, Nizhni Novgorod Region), part of United Metallurgical Company (OMK), increased the production of railroad wheels 2.4-fold and produced 66,384 wheels in January 2011. According to OMK Vice President and VSW Executive Director Vladimir Kochetkov, in 2011 railroad wheel production will increase by 15% as compared with last year and reach about 765 thousand wheels. "The bulk of our wheel production will be intended for our key customer, Russian Railways. Primarily, they will be wheels of enhanced quality and hardness. They are characterized by high operational properties and reliability, emphasized Mr. Kochetkov.

In January this year, VSW produced about 145 thousand tonnes of different types of pipes, including nearly 93 thousand tonnes of large-diameter pipes, which equals the January 2010 figure.
