OREANDA-NEWS. March 11, 2011. Cargo throughput of the port of Nakhodka in January-February 2011 shrank by 12.8% from the same period of 2010, to 2,316,800 tons.

Handling of anthracite rose by 10.14% to 411,500 tons, the volume of timber cargo fell slightly from 123,500 tons to 123,400 tons. The volume of other cargoes that were not shipped last year reached 11,8 million tons. There was a 42.13-percent slump in Jan-Feb in volumes of ferrous metals, to 518,300 tons, while handling of non-ferrous metals increased twice as much, to 86,000 tons, scrap metal volume surged by 2.4 times to 23,300 tons. Exports of petroleum products decreased by 6.5% to 1,097,800 tons.

Port of Nakhodka is located in the northern Bay of Nakhodka. The year-round navigable port is connected with the Russian and Western Europe’s railway network through Trans-Siberian Railroad. In 2010, Nakhodka Port’s cargo throughput fell by 2.6% year-over-year, to 15.32 million tons.
