OREANDA-NEWS. March 15, 2011. Azerbaijan’s industrial production lowered in February 2011 by 2.4% against January’s indicator.

The State Statistics Committee informs that for Jan-Feb of the year country’s industrial production reached AZN 4.86 bn (USD 6.075 bn on average exchange rate of AZN 0.8 to the US dollar) that is by 0.2% less than the Jan-Feb 2010 index.

This year industrial production totaled AZN 2.4 bn in February and AZN 2.46 bn in January.

Last year’s industrial production reached AZN 27.4 bn (+2.6%), including AZN 2.179 bn in December and AZN 2.77 bn in November (the 2010 best index per month).

Over Jan-Feb 2011 industrial production in the state sector made up AZN 939.6 bn with year-on-year fall of 8.9% and AZN 3.9 bn with rise of 2.1% in non-state sector.

The share of state sector was only 19.3% of overall industrial manufacture and the share of non-state sector 80.7%.

For Jan-Feb 2011 production in extracting industry reached AZN 3.609 bn or 74.3% of entire industrial output, processing industry AZN 926.7 million or 19%, energy and gas sector AZN 296.1 bn or 6.1% and the rest volume, which totaled AZN 28.1 bn or 0.6%, fell on the share of water supply, sewage treatment and utilization of hard waste.  Production in extracting industry increased by 0.4%, fell in processing industry by 2.9%, in electric power and gas sectors by 5%, and by 0.6% in water supply and waste utilization.

This February, as well as following 2010, the trend when industrial output rise lagged from general growth of GDP continued. For Jan-Feb 2011 GDP grew by 1.4% against rise of 0.2% in industrial sector.
