OREANDA-NEWS. March 16, 2011. Stroytransgaz has started equipment installation for 750 kV Belozerskaya substation in Vologda Oblast, realizing the power distribution scheme for power unit No. 4 of Kalinin Nuclear Power Plant.

Belozerskaya substation will be expanded due to the construction of a new 220 kV outdoor switchgear and extension of existing ones. A unique three-phase autotransformer АТ 750/500 kV, which unit capacity is the highest in Russia, will be installed. The supplied equipment can provide a half of electric power system of a city as large as Sochi with electric power.

The equipment is being installed at all facilities of the substation at present, construction and installation works continue. Belozerskaya substation power capacity will increase from 1251 to 3003 MVA in the result of the extension. It will considerably enhance power supply security of enterprises of Vologda Oblast including OAO Severstal. All works are implemented in compliance with the approved construction schedule and will be completed in 2011.

Background:

Stroytransgaz has been working in the energy construction sector since 2006 to diversify its business activity. Belozerskaya Substation Expanding Project is implemented within the frames of the power distribution scheme for power unit No. 4 of Kalinin NPP. The agreement with FGC UES has been concluded on the general contract terms and conditions.

Stroytransgaz will install 6,758 MVA of transformer capacity and more than 660 kilometers of high-voltage cable to provide power distribution of the new power unit. Besides 750 kV Belozerskaya substation extension, substations 500 kV Dorohovo and 750 kV Gribovo as well as 750 kV Kalinin NPP—Gribovo line, 500 kV Gribovo—Dorohovo line and Dorohovo—Sloboda double-circuit cable overhead transmission line will be constructed.
