OREANDA-NEWS. March 16, 2011. TEO LT, AB, the largest provider of integrated telecommunication, IT and television services in Lithuania, has offered major business enterprises and organisations its cloud computing-based voice telephony services. From now on, telephone exchanges, which have been used by many domestic companies for creating local area telephone networks, may be replaced with virtual resource solutions.

The new Virtual IP PBX (Hosted Internet Protocol Private Branch Exchange) service will allow organisations to create telephone networks without using any additional equipment installed in the office. The virtual system of telephony networks will enable calling short numbers, diverting or redirecting calls, arranging telephone conferences as well as using other solutions facilitating teamwork.

According to Nerijus Ivanauskas, Chief Marketing Officer of TEO, the virtual resource - cloud computing - solutions, which had been started to be employed in the field of computing several years ago, proved to be working well, and, therefore, they were also applied when creating voice telephony services.

"Surveys show that private branch exchanges are currently used by more than one half of Lithuania's major enterprises and organisations. At the time of expanding activities or pursuing new opportunities, virtual exchange solutions will allow them to not invest in the equipment needed for that purpose or its upgrading, but rather to direct the main attention and funds to their core activities", - N. Ivanauskas said.

Internet telephony (alternatively called VoIP - Voice over IP) will be available to users of the virtual exchange service developed by TEO, and they will be provided the possibility either to purchase telephone sets needed for that purpose or to take them on lease during the service provision period. The capacity of telephone networks - the number of employees using them - can be changed depending on the needs of enterprises. The operation of the system will be monitored on a continuous basis, and the maintenance fee will be included in the total price of the service.

Customers of the new service will have the possibility of using a self-service portal, where they will handle the service - to create new user accounts and to assign short numbers to them.
