OREANDA-NEWS. March 17, 2011. The first joint visit of the representatives of GFR Ministry of Foreign Affairs, GFR Department of Defense Material Supply and Development, and Association of Nuclear Reactor and Facility Safety in 2011 took place in SCP OJSC (an enterprise of TVEL Rosatom Fuel Company).

The German specialists got acquainted with the working process on modernization of the systems of nuclear facilities physical protection at the plant and agreed on the following joint events.

The modernization works at the plant are carried out according to the program of Global Partnership of the Group of Eight countries with financial support from German Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Within the framework of the program, for the previous year SCP OJSC attracted the technical assistance from Germany for the amount of 280 million rubles, which were spent on improvement of the set of safety measures.

“The main purpose of the joint work with our German colleagues is to provide the nuclear material safety, and, ultimately, our citizens’ safety”, — Eugeny Kornev, SCP OJSC Deputy General Director on Safety, noted.

The Global Partnership program is aimed at counteracting the hazard of world-wide distribution of weapons of mass destruction and radiation active materials. According to the program, the Group of Eight countries appropriate 20 billion dollars for 10 years for the perfection of the nuclear material physical protection and accounting systems. The program was started in 2002.
