OREANDA-NEWS. March 17, 2011. The second stage of commissioning works of the equipment in the air cooling (“dry”) storage facility of the spent nuclear fuel (SNF) (HOT-2) was successfully accomplished at Mining and Chemistry Plant.

According to the work schedule, the testing of the equipment for OTVS RBMK-1000 storage canisters supply to the “hot” chamber and transfer from the “hot” chamber to the storage facilities, was carried out.

At present, the following processing chains are running smoothly:

• Acceptance and unpacking of the TUK-109 shipping packaging set equipped with the cartridges for PT OTVS RBMK-1000 simulators;
• acceptance of empty cartridges to the storage facility;
• empty cartridges supply to the “hot” chamber for loading of the cartridges with the PT OTVS RBMK-1000imitators;
• handing out the cartridges from the “hot” chamber to the transmission machine and its transportation to the receiving point of the storage fuel-handling machine;
• TUK-109 reassembly and its preparation for the back trip.

The rehandling facilities of different capacities, as well as tilters, biologic protection, gate devices, divertors, sockets of hermetic adaption are involved in performance of these processing chains. The well-run chains provide safety of transport operations, including the personnel biologic protection while performance of these operations.

At the same time, construction of the building structures of the SNF RBMK-1000 storage facility has been completed. The mounting hall (building 3a face) previously left for large-sized processing equipment is closed. The works on the whole building heat contour are being finished. The HOT-2 commissioning works are performed according to the schedule.
