OREANDA-NEWS. March 23, 2011. CenterTelecom OJSC reports that the number of subscribers of its mobile Internet service has exceeded 3,000 people.

The new service providing a wireless broadband Internet access under Domolink MOBI brand was launched in Moscow region in January 2011. For the very first week 600 3G modems were sold. On 14 March the number of the new service's users amounted to 3,000.

Domolink MOBI service provides Internet connection with up to 3.1 Mbps speed in EVDO regime; it is comparable with a speed of Internet connection via dedicated line. A subscriber needs to connect his USB modem to his PC in order to get connected. The project is based on Full MVNO scheme using Sky Link's mobile access infrastructure. CenterTelecom was the first company among Svyazinvest's inter-regional operators which received MVNO license and launched the appropriate service in the market.

Avetis Elchiyan, Director of Wireless and Convergent Services Center, CenterTelecom, said: "In February we conducted tests successfully, so now we are ready to provide voice transfer and other services, but there is a delay in provision of DEF numbering to us by the regulator. We need this in order to begin providing Domolink MOBI voice and convergent services. In the second quarter of 2011 we plan to launch the project in a pilot region (Moscow region) and also in Voronezh, Vladimir, Tver and Ryazan regions."
