OREANDA-NEWS. March 25, 2011. The JSC "Techsnabexport" (TENEX) and the United States Enrichment Corporation (USEC) signed in Washington a long-term contract for the supply of uranium enrichment services up to 2022. Under the terms of the contract the supply of LEU to USEC will begin in 2013 and ramp up until it reaches a level in 2015 that is approximately one half the level currently supplied by TENEX to USEC under the US-Russia HEU Agreement.

The contract was signed by TENEX Director General Alexei A. Grigoriev and USEC Senior vice-president Filip G. Sewell in the presence of Rosatom Director General Sergey V. Kirienko and USEC President John K. Welch.

"We believe this new contract will further strengthen our long-term relationship with USEC. This contract with USEC together with the Russian uranium products supply contracts signed in 2009-2010 directly with US utilities will allow TENEX to maintain our firm market position in the US when the HEU Agreement is complete", - said Alexei Grigoriev.

When the contract comes into effect, which requires an approval by the State Corporation "Rosatom", USEC and TENEX expect to conduct a preliminary feasibility study to explore the possible deployment of an enrichment plant in the United States employing Russian centrifuge technology. Any decision to proceed with such a project would depend on the results of this
preliminary feasibility study and would be subject to further agreement between the US and Russian governments.
