OREANDA-NEWS. March 25, 2011. Izhora plants have performed acceptance and certification tests of 250/10+250/10t overhead travelling crane. The crane is of NPO VNIIPTMASH design; overhead and travelling parts are of Uralmashplant production, and Izhora plants have manufactured crane trolleys.

Total load capacity of the crane is 500 tons. It is equipped with two 250/10-t trolleys and traverse with motor-driven swivel hook. The load-capacity test demonstrated that the crane could carry 625-t load, which is 25% overtop of rated carrying capacity.

It is planned to operate the crane at the shop where reactor vessels for nuclear power stations are manufactured. This high-technology equipment requires high-accuracy processing. The crane is intended for handling of the reactor pressure vessel and its further arrangement on the machine tool station.

NPO VNIIPTMASH engineers used the most advanced design procedures. The crane is equipped with modern-design drives and gear motors of travel mechanisms. This reduces total weight of the equipment and therefore reduces the cost of the crane considerably.

The crane features high accuracy of speed control, which is of great importance for correct arrangement of the reactor vessel onto the machine tool station.

At the shop, the crane was erected onto the crane rail tracks.

Industrial-safety examination report and compliance certificate have been furnished.

NPO VNIIPTMASH is the leading design institute for handling equipment in Russia and is incorporated into Handling Equipment division of Uralmash-Engineering.
