OREANDA-NEWS. March 31, 2011. The Baku Telephone Network Production Association (BTRIB) of the Ministry of Communications & Information Technologies of Azerbaijan is to complete digitization of capital’s telephone network during April 2011.

MCIT spokesman Mushfig Amirov informs that work on switching of analog numbers of automatic telephone exchanges 438/439 and 494/495/496 to digital format.

As a result of upgrade of ATEs 438/439, with transfer to NGN technology, new numbers with indices 537/538/539 will be introduced on the basis of the numbers, and the indices of telephone numbers of ATEs 494/495/496 will be replaced by indices 594/595/596. On the territory of ATE 494/495/496 it is also planned to begin operation of new index 597.

Upon completion of work on electronization of capital’s analog ATEs by switching them to NGN technology, Azerbaijan will enter in ranks of the three CIS countries with fully digitized telecommunications network.
