OREANDA-NEWS. April 11, 2011. Regulatory review of pre-project materials of Tver nuclear power plant produced by NN AEP has completed. "The Scientific and Engineering Center for Nuclear and Radiation Safety has issued a positive statement on the pre-project materials," a NN AEP's release of April 5 says. This gave Rosenergoatom a possibility of obtaining Rostechnadzor licenses for siting first and second reactors of Tver plant, which is planned to locate in Udomlya District of Tver Region 4 km away from existing Kalinin N-plant.

In frames of an agreement with the customer, NN AEP plans to carry out pre-project engineering surveys and environmental studies in 2011. The nuclear build in Tver Region is foreseen by the General Scheme of electricity generators deployment until 2020. In July 2009 in Udomlya, public hearings were held on a preliminary revision of the Environmental Impact Assessment of Tver-1,2 construction and operation.

A justification of investments in construction of the two-reactor Tver plant was done by NN AEP. The plant project is based on the AES-2006 option. Each unit will be fitted with a VVER-1200 reactor (chief designer - OKB Gidropress) with a K-1200-6,8/50 turbine (designer and supplier Power Machines- LMZ). The critical equipment of Tver N-plant is supposed to be cooled using evaporation cooling towers featuring a reverse flow of the water coolant and air.
