OREANDA-NEWS. April 18, 2011. The customers using the Interactive GALA TV service provided by TEO LT, AB, the largest provider of integrated telecommunication, IT and television services in Lithuania, will have the possibility to browse the social networking website Facebook, to view photo albums on the website Flickr and to read news on popular news portals right on their TV screens.

This service has become available to Interactive GALA TV users from Thursday without any additional fees.

According to Nerijus Ivanauskas, Chief Marketing Officer of TEO, the fact that social networking sites and news portals which have become popular on the Internet are being moved onto TV screens is the result of growing user needs.

It has already become customary for Interactive GALA TV users to record TV programmes or films and to view them at any time they want, to use the Video-On-Demand service, to read horoscopes or to listen to radio. We have offered them even more novelties, including a possibility to communicate with friends directly online and to watch TV at the same time", - N. Ivanauskas said.

Registered users of the social networking website Facebook will have a possibility to view their friends' entries, personal photo albums and to share information about any favourite TV programme being watched at that time right on their TV screens. The most active Internet users will have the opportunity to simultaneously watch TV and see their friends' posts immediately when they appear on the social networking website.

Those interested in leisure, sports or political news will have a possibility during commercial breaks to read publications from news portals Zebra.lt, LRytas.lt, Verslozinios.lt, 15min.lt and Balsas.lt. Message titles will reach their TV screens in the RSS (Really Simple Syndication) format. Viewing photos, where friends' holidays or other memorable moments are captured, can be done by connecting to the largest photo sharing website Flickr.com.

Users of the Interactive GALA digital television (IPTV) services, which are provided in most cities of Lithuania, can watch more than 80 entertainment, cognitive, sports, news, and high-definition television (HDTV) channels. The interactive technology-based services allow users, without using any extra equipment, to record their favourite TV programmes and watch them at desired times, to use the Virtual Video-On-Demand services, to read their horoscopes or listen to radio.

TEO also provides the Digital GALA TV services, broadcasted via digital terrestrial (DVB-T) networks. Users of this service, which is provided in nearly the whole of Lithuania, can watch up to 40 channels in Lithuanian, English, Russian and other languages.
