OREANDA-NEWS. April 29, 2011. This year, the annual Almaty exhibition EcoTech will be held in Astana on 21-23 September 2011.
The move is because the Seventh "Environment for Europe" Ministerial Conference is being held in Astana. The exhibition will be located in the Palace of Independence, next to the conference. The organisers of the event, the exhibition company Iteca, are confident that the co-location of the two events will prove successful, and facilitate the wide-ranging presentation and discussion of current issues in environmental protection and sustainable water management.

EcoTech is a major specialised exhibition in Kazakhstan and Central Asia, which presents leading international and domestic companies engaged in the collection, utilisation, processing and disposal of industrial and household waste; water and wastewater treatment; sustainable water management; gas, air and soil treatment; labour protection and industrial safety; analytical control systems; and energy resource conservation.
The Seventh "Environment for Europe" Ministerial Conference will consider two main topics:

1. Sustainable management of water and water-related ecosystems

2. Greening the economy: mainstreaming the environment into economic development

This decision, which was taken by the Committee on Environmental Policy of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe on 23 October, reflects the current priorities in the region’s environmental sphere.

The Astana “Green Bridge” Initiative is the principal means for implementing the idea of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan of Kazakhstan’s role as a bridge between Europe and Asia.

The Seventh "Environment for Europe" Ministerial Conference in Astana should be a key stage in the implementation and recognition of the Astana Initiative, both as a platform for dialogue and a tool for the integration of Asia and Europe on green growth.

EcoTech 2011 is officially supported by the Ministry of Environmental Protection of the Republic of Kazakhstan. More information is available on the website www.ecotech.kz. Information about the "Environment for Europe" Ministerial Conference is available at www.efe.kz.
