OREANDA-NEWS. May 04, 2011. Viktor Basargin, Minister of Regional Development of the Russian Federation, made a working visit to Ust-Luga Merchant Sea Port. The purpose was to participate in the ceremony of putting into constant operation of the objects constructed within the framework of the complex investment project "Construction and Further Operation of the multipurpose terminal "Yug-2" at Ust-Luga Merchant Sea Port"; the project was implemented with the state support by means of budgetary assignments from the Investment Fund of the Russian Federation.

The ministry delegation took part in the opening of two berths in the territory of MT "Yug-2". In 2010, the total investments in the project were 8.502 bln. roubles, including 6.549 bln. of private and obtained assets of "Ust-Luga Company" JSC, and 1.953 bln. roubles from the Investment Fund of the Russian Federation.

"The future belongs to complex projects of territory development,— noted Viktor Basargin, Russian Minister of Regional Development,— besides the port zone growing, Ust-Luga sees development of the industrial zone; a new town for 34 thsd. residents is being built; conditions for people’s comfortable living are being created. We are going to keep supporting this project on the federal level. The complex territory development, when several sectors of the national economy develop simultaneously, is the trend to prevent Russia from new single-industry towns".

"All precondition for building a new town in Ust-Luga Settlement are available,— noted Valery Serdyukov, Governor of the Leningrad Region,— we should depart from the retrograde schemes when workers are brought to work under the rotating crew method. The port and the industrial zone create jobs; so, it is here, where we should provide the conditions for decent living of the port’s employees and the locals".

During his working visit, Viktor Basargin held a meeting devoted to the complex development of the territory adjacent to Ust-Luga Port. Special attention was paid to creating the industrial zone and building the new town, being raised by "Ust-Luga Company" JSC for the port employees and the residents of the Kingisepp District.

The meeting was attended by Valery Serdyukov, Governor of the Leningrad Region; Valery Izrailyt, Chairman of the Board of "Ust-Luga Company" JSC; Maksim Shirokov, Director General of "Ust-Luga Company" JSC; Mikhail Babkin, Director General of "Portzhilstroy" JSC; Anatoly Katalevich, Chairman of the Construction Committee of the Leningrad Region, and others.
