OREANDA-NEWS. May 04, 2011. Cargo throughput of Sea Commercial Port of Illichivsk (SCPI, Odessa region, Ukraine) in January-April 2011 decreased by 15.4% compared with the same period a year earlier, to 4,895,000 tons, the state-owned company said.

The port’s cargo throughput in April dropped by 19.2% to 1,133,000 tons, while handling of imported cars increased as much as 2.8 times, gas volume - doubled, ore shipments soared 82.9%, cargo carried by ferry service rose by 13.8%.

Four-month container volume increased by 5.2% to 91,900 TEUs and was up 18.2% in April, to 24,300 TEUs.

State-owned Sea Commercial Port of Illichivsk (Ilyichevsk) ranks among Ukraine’s top 4 seaports. The Port of Ilyichevsk encompasses 346 ha, 6km of waterfront with 29 berths. Its handling and warehouse facilities enable import/export freight flows of over 30 million tons a year. In 2010, cargo throughput of the port fell by 7.5% year-over-year, to 15,55m tons.
