OREANDA-NEWS. May 12, 2011. Data provided by the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI) show that the growth of this indicator was conditioned by the increase of the income accomplished by companies Orange Moldova, Moldcel and Moldtelecom working under the Unite trademark. ORANGE Moldova’s income increased by 2.5% and totaled 578.9 million leis, MOLDCELL’s – by 14.5%, to 198.2 million leis and MOLDTELECOM’s - by 26.6%, to 29.5 million leis.

The average monthly revenue per user (ARPU) recorded by the three mobile operators was 83.82 lei, which is by 7.9% less. According to the ANRCETI, the key factor of the increase in the mobile telephone operators’ incomes is the increase in the number of users and in the volume of traffic initiated by them. In January-March this year, the total number of mobile telephony users increased by 16.4 percent and reached 3 million 250 thousand, whereas the mobile penetration rate per 100 people increased 2.5 percentage points, reaching 91.3%. Orange Moldova connected to its network 19.4 thousand new users, Moldcell – 66.6 thousand.

The number of Moldtelecom’s clients reduced by 1.4 thousand and totaled 129.8 thousand by 1st of April 2011. As of this date, Orange Moldova had over 2 million 19 thousand users, Moldcell – 1 million 100.7 thousand users. The considerable growth was reported on the segment of wideband mobile Internet access services, provided by mobile telephony operators through 3G networks. The number of 3G Internet users consuming at least 1 MB traffic increased by 16.3 thousand (13.4%) in comparison with the situation as of January 1, 2011, their number was 137.9 thousand.

The biggest market share in terms of incomes – 71.8% in the first quarter this year belonged to Orange Moldova. Market shares of Moldcell and Moldrelecom companies made up 24.6% and 3.6%, respectively.
