OREANDA-NEWS. May 18, 2011. A delegation consisting of a pilot-cosmonaut, Russia’s Hero Sergei Treschev and representatives of the Russian Federal Space Agency visit Azerbaijan as part of activities timed to the 50th anniversary of Yuri Gagarin’s space flight on May 17-19, which are organized by the Russian Federation Embassy and the Federal Agency for Commonwealth of Independent States, Compatriots Living Abroad and International Humanitarian Cooperation (Rossotrudnichestvo), the organization’s press release says.

During the visit on May 17 the National Aviation Academy hosted the delegation’s meeting with the public, which will be attended by representatives of the Russian Embassy, the National Academy of Sciences, National Aerospace Agency, youth associations, the compatriots' organizations, Trend.az informs.

In their speeches, the meeting participants talked about the Soviet and Russia’s achievements in research and space exploration and Azerbaijan scientists’ contribution in the study of space.

The delegation will visit Azerbaijani cities of Gabala and Shamakhi on May 18-19, where meetings will be held with the public and students, subject photo exhibition will be held and documentary film will be demonstrated about the cosmos, the press release says.
