OREANDA-NEWS. May 31, 2011. Usiminas participated in the 2011 edition of the EMEJ – Minas Gerais Junior Companies Meeting, which is deemed the largest gathering of graduation students from junior companies from the whole country.

The event was held on May 19 – 21 at Taua Hotel, in Belo Horizonte metropolitan area, and Usiminas Strategic Development head Raul Cadena delivered a speech on the “Strategy Development and Strategic Planning Cycle”.

With a focus on the strategy development stages and the implications of strategic guidelines for the company sectors, Raul Cadena’s speech pointed out how theory and practice should be aligned to each other when planning the business strategy. “The greatest challenge when participating in this kind of event is to deliver a speech that could be useful to the students and at the same time applicable to their reality. I took Usiminas’ strategic planning cycle as a reference, with adaptations to the challenges faced by and the realities of a junior company,” he stressed.

This year’s meeting brought up the theme of collaborative development. During three days, the participants could experience, through workshops and speeches by sponsors like Usiminas, how sharing ideas, information and work can positively impact the achievement of an organization’s goals.

3,500 people attended the EMEJ 2011, including students from several federal and public educational institutions from the whole country.
