OREANDA-NEWS. May 31, 2011. In future, when a client concludes a contract with Latvenergo regarding electricity supply, documents demonstrating ownership of property will no longer be required. Furthermore, contracts will be able to be concluded easily, quickly, and at any time over the Internet at the client self-service portal www.e-latvenergo.lv

To date, contracts for electricity supply could only be concluded at Latvenergo client service centres. Additionally, clients were always required to present documentation demonstrating ownership of the property. Due to these conditions, the company often found itself in a situation where contractual relations were concluded with one person, while the user was somebody else. This caused problems not only with regard to operational communications with the client, but also with disputes regarding payment.

For no other similar service is it necessary to present a land book or apartment purchase/sale agreement, and considering that Latvian law also does not require the submission of such documents, in future these will not be required of residents when concluding an agreement regarding electricity supply from Latvenergo in standard situations.

In future, clients can conclude a contract regarding electricity supply on the client self-service portal www.e-latvenergo.lv. New clients will require authorisation to use the portal by obtaining access by means of their Internet bank. This service is available to clients of Swedbank, SEB, Nordea, Krajbanka, Citadele, and Norvik banka. Existing Latvenergo clients whose data have previously been registered may utilise their current authorisation on the client portal.

Contract conclusion on e-latvenergo.lv has been made intuitive, so that any client can have problem-free access even without significant knowledge of the Internet. The portal offers the possibility to go through the entire contract-conclusion process step-by-step. Only six steps are necessary to set out the contact information for the client and the new contract, the site for which the contract is being concluded, as well as technical information, the initial meter reading at which contractual relations are to begin, and new contract information.

If for some reason the client is unable to get to the next step, a client-service employee is automatically notified and will, if necessary, contact the client and clarify and resolve all the issues so that the client may successfully complete the contract-conclusion process. If there are no complications, then at the last step, the contract is automatically concluded.

What’s more, the current holder of the contract for the site is notified of the new contract request and is asked to contact Latvenergo in 15 days’ time if he or she wishes to continue contractual obligations at this site. If the existing contract holder does not make contact, then his or her contract is discontinued. Should any differences arise between the parties concluding contracts at one site, preference shall be given to the former user.

We ask anyone wishing in future to change his or her residence or change an existing electricity supply contract at his or her residence to his or her own name to utilise this new possibility for concluding a remote electricity supply contract.

With the implementation of the contract conclusion at the client portal e-latvenergo.lv, we have completed the electronic-service implementation cycle, permitting Latvenergo clients to obtain all the services they require by using the Internet, without leaving their home or place of work.

Those clients who prefer receiving personalised service will be able to continue to visit Latvenergo client service centres.
